ENTRY CATEGORIES

Solo - 1 Dancer

Duet/Trio - 2-3 Dancers

Small Group - 4-6 Dancers

Extended Small Group - 7-9 Dancers

Large Group - 10-14 Dancers

Extended Line - 15+ Dancers

Production - 18+ Dancers

AGE DIVISIONS

**Age as of December 31st of the current year of registration. Age averages will be rounded down.

4yrs,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,

19+

Novice:

Solos: A dancer that has never competed previously in a solo.
Duet: 100% of the dancers have never competed before in a duet.
Trio: 2 of the 3 dancers have never competed before.
Groups: 75% of the dancers have never competed before.

Part Time:

Dancers who train no more than 6 hours a week; including choreography hours.
Solos: A dancer that trains less than 6 hours a week.
Duet: 100% of the dancers must train less than 6 hours a week.
Trio: 2 of the 3 dancers must train less than 6 hours a week.
Groups: 75% must train less than 6 hours a week.
Part-Time dancers are not eligible to compete in the Novice categories.
**Novice & part-time routines will have separate overalls**

Competitive:

*Dancer(s) who trains more than 6 hours a week; including choreography hours under the age of 21 and is not employed by any industry professional pertaining to dance.

DANCE STYLES

TAP 

*Routine must contain tap technique and primarily tap work. It is preferred that tap sounds not be pre-recorded in music.

HIP HOP  

*Routine consisting primarily of Hip Hop technique. Music containing inappropriate lyrics will be marked lower by judges.

JAZZ  

*A routine that consists primarily jazz technique

MUSICAL THEATRE  

*A routine that features any style of dance that interprets a song from Broadway or a Musical.

SONG AND DANCE

*A routine where the performer(s) are singing live vocals & dancing. No other lead vocals on the song are permitted.

BALLET 

*Routine must consist of ballet technique. Must include classical steps and movements.

**NO POINTE SHOES ALLOWED

DEMI-CHARACTER BALLET

POINTE  

*Routine must consist of pointe technique.

ACRO 

*A routine using controlled acrobatic moves. Majority of routine must be acrobatic moves. Must contain dance moves, steps and choreography.

LYRICAL 

*Routine should demonstrate balance, extension, isolations and control. Must tell a story with the lyrics or mood of the music.

CONTEMPORARY 

*Routine must utilize contemporary style to show extension and balance. Can combine lyrical and modern style technique.

OPEN 

*Any of our listed categories or combinations of listed category styles.

VOCAL CATEGORY - NEW*****A routine where the performer(s) are singing live vocals.
